Aimee and I were playing around with the program "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" the other day to see how fast we type. I surprised myself by getting 113 WPM with 96% accuracy on the hardest setting (difficult words and number combinations) and 163 WPM on the easy setting (common and easy-to-type words). Woo hoo!

I'm back at work now, getting used to regular life again. I just realized that an article on self-healing technology (also available in PDF) that I co-wrote for Technology@Intel magazine was published while I was gone.

In about two weeks, I will be leaving on my 3,100 mile bicycle trip across America. Feel free to check out my trip plans (and let me know if you are interested in joining up with me, either on bike or car, along the way!). Portland area folks may be interested in joining for the first day 70-mile ride from Tillamook to Portland (August 17) or the ride down to Madras (August 18-20). Aimee, Larry, and I went on a three-day bicycle touring trip in central Oregon over the 4th of July weekend.

Zack, Hoenig, and I climbed Mt. Shasta this past weekend in under 12 hours car-to-car.

I'm still reeling over the recent passage of measure 26-48 which will take an additional 1.25% from the income of every Multnomah County resident (bringing our total income tax burden to 10.25%, which has got to be the highest in the country). Thanks to the socialists who voted for this bill, our schools and government still have no incentive to clean up their act and become more efficient. The measure was supposed to be "temporary", for three years only, but only time will tell...

I am a co-inventor of patent 6,560,577, which was just issued from the US Patent and Trademark Office. The complete patent is in this PDF file.

I've added a new journal feature to prestonhunt.com and this is my first post. Yay, it works :) [In case you are wondering why there are a bunch of entries before this one, I went back and retroactively filled in the journal with interesting tidbits.]

My first two web services are ready for use: Urlbot, a service for monitoring and mailing web pages; and Jerky Drivers, a service for reporting bad drivers. Check them out!

I am in the process of adding licensing terms to all of my pages. For example, this page now has a license (see bottom right hand column).

I signed up with LifeSharers recently. I think this is a neat idea and am advocating it to all my friends.

I recently added a new random photo feature to the left side (refresh your browser to load a new random photo, and click on the photo to see a full-sized version of it).

alltheweb.com has a neat feature that shows all the other sites on the web that link to mine! Google and Hotbot also offer this feature, but alltheweb seems to give the most comprehensive list.
