- 9th & Alder Food Carts
- More than a dozen lunch carts. Incredible variety, Mexican, Japanese, Thai, Peruvian, African, Mediterranean. Lomo Saltado at the Peruvian places is delicious.
- Hot Pot City (1st & Harrison)
- As close to authentic Taiwanese hot pot as you are going to get in Portland. $15 for dinner, $8 for lunch. All you can eat.
- Zell's Cafe (1300 SE Morrison)
- Short drive across the river. Reasonable prices for tasty lunch and breakfast. Always crowded. M-F7-2, Sa8-2, Su8-3
- Vino Paradiso
- Trendy Pearl district wine bar. Tiny dinner portions, but good. Port no good.
- P.F. Chang's
- Uninspired Chinese food with a nice, trendy atmosphere. Busy. Make reservations! +1-503-432-4000
- Ristorante Roma (12th)
- Authentic Italian restaurant, simple, demure, cheap, and fast.
- Green Papaya
- Nice ambience and ok food (order at least medium spicy!), but tiny portions for the money and slow service. I'm not going back.
- Long Island Cafe
- Interesting fusion of pizza, pasta, and falafel
- Fratelli, 12th & Hoyt
- Moderately expensive Italian in Pearl District. Been once, it was great.
- Toji Korea Grill House, 46th & Hawthorne
- One of the best Korean restaurants in town, both for food and ambiance.
- La Terrazza, 10th & Morrison
- Excellent Italian, not too expensive. Try the red pepper soup.
- Ole Ole, 12th & Jefferson
- Inexpensive Mexican in a cheery environment - giving Cha Cha Cha a run for their money!
- Ripe
- Invitation-only, family-style restaurant, one sitting per night
- Indian Cart @ 12th & Yamhill
- 100% vegetarian. Excellent food. Friendly owners/service. Huge portions. CHEAP! $4-5 for a dish that will provide enough food for two people.
- O'Cielo
- Italian soup and sandwich shop near Central Library. Pretty good! Open M-Sa 10-10.
- Andina
- Excellent family-owned Peruvian restaurant. Very nice ambience, reasonable lunch prices, but very expensive dinner prices.
- Bleu/Western Culinary Institute
- 9th & Morrison. Lunch special is $10 for a 3-course meal. Thursday night has an all-you-can-eat buffet for $20. Training restaurant for chefs and waiters, so food quality and service can vary greatly, but generally is very good value. 0.6 miles from condo.
- Nicholas' Restaurant
- Outstanding Middle Eastern restaurant. No reservations, can get quite popular most evenings, but call-in take-out orders are still very fast. 1.6 miles from condo.
- Bangkok Palace
- Excellent Thai food, not too costly, nice decor. 0.8 miles from condo.
- Saburo's Sushi
- Driving distance (3.5 mi) from condo. Best sushi restaurant in Portland. Incredible serving sizes for low cost. Horrible hours (5-9:30pm only) and long waiting lines to get in, but it's worth it. Maybe just as good (open for lunch, and smaller wait times) is Hakatamon Sushi in Beaverton. Of course, Syun is the best sushi place on the west side (its building used to be the old Hillsboro city library).
- Cha Cha Cha
- Mexican restaurant near PSU with huge, extremely tasty, super cheap burritos.
- Pizza Schmizza
- Downtown location of this ubiquitous Portland pizza chain, 0.8 miles from condo. Northwest location (21st Ave) slightly better ambience, comfy couches.
- Garbanzos
- A little on the expensive side for lunch, but excellent Mediterranean restaurant.
- Pioneer Place Mall Food Court
- Pleasant mall food court, the usual offerings, a nice plce to go for lunch to for lots of variety, cheap eats, and a relaxing setting.
- Quizno's
- Toasted sub chain restaurant. 0.6 miles from condo. Koin Center.
- Subway
- 0.2 miles from condo.
